A Personal Extension is designated to be a single number assigned to each employee in a company. Each Personal Extension comes with its own voicemail box by default. Users can automatically forward calls to their cell phone, or another phone number. Businesses can help maintain employee confidentiality in this way, while also allowing employees the ease of using their own personal device.
On the Personal Extension page, the following settings are configurable:
"Disaster Recovery Destination" is a newly available feature:
Name | Enter or change the name of the extension by editing this field. The names "Anonymous" and "Unknown" are not allowed. |
Extension | Enter or edit the extension number. This extension must follow the Configuration Pattern. |
Caller ID | This is the Caller ID that will appear on phones for outbound calls. Make a selection from any accessible numbers. |
Caller ID Override | Checking this box will change the Caller ID that is displayed to the recipient when the call is forwarded. Instead of the original caller's Caller ID information being displayed, the Caller ID assigned to this Personal Extension will show. |
Extension Forward | Set this option to forward all calls to any Extension, Personal Number, or Phone Number configured here. Available options are only for pre-configured Extensions and Personal Numbers. Any other Phone Numbers must be set through the phone by dialing the feature code for Extension Forward (*23). |
Ring Timeout | This is the amount of time the phone will ring before the call is either sent to voicemail or moved on in the ring sequence. |
Final Destination Type | The Final Destination is another method of forwarding. This Type has four options to choose from: Voicemail (forward to voice mailbox), Extension (forward to a Personal Extension), Personal Number (forward to a Personal Number), or None (disconnect the call after it reaches the Ring Timeout limit). |
Record All Calls | Enable or disable recording of all calls on this extension. Select whether only the local party is recorded ("one party recording") or both parties. Check your state's recording laws before using this feature. When a call is recorded, then determine who has access to the recording (extension owner or a group). |
Deny Transfers | This option, when checked, denies any transferred phone calls to this extension. |
Monitor All Calls | Monitor all calls on this extension. Only users who have been granted "call monitoring" access, under groups, will be able to use this feature. |
Auth Password | This option allows users to enable Crexendo services on non-Crexendo SIP devices. The Account Administrator must contact Crexendo Customer Service for assistance generating this password. Once a password has been generated, it will be visible here. |
Disaster Recovery Destination | If a call is routed to a user's extension whose SIP registration is missing (often due to a power outage at the user's location), then this option enables the call to be forwarded to a personal or company number instead, as the final destination. |
